The designs are shown painted with DecoArt SoSoft fabric paint on pillowcase borders. However, the designs can be painted with an exchange of acrylic paint colors on a variety of surfaces. As for fabric surfaces, these designs can be painted on curtain borders, pillows, canvas lawn pads or bags and clothing. If using the designs with acrylic paint, use your favorite styles of traditional brushes.
Use transfer paper for transferring line work.
Heavenly Blue Morning Glory
White nylon bristle or coarse brushes for painting on fabric: #6 flat; #’s 2, 8 round
DecoArt SoSoft Fabric Paints: True Blue, White, Light Soft Sage, Hauser Dark Green Terra Cotta, Cadmium Yellow.
Tip: paint each leaf and flower one at a time for best blend.
Paint each open flower by puling White out at the center using a #8 round. Wipe the brush to get as much paint out as possible and pull to blend True blue back into the White. The trumpet part of the flower is painted White with a #2 round, blend in True Blue to shade. Paint bud with a double load of True Blue and White using a #6 flat. Paint the highlight side of the leaf first with a #6 flat and Light Soft Sage; blend in Hauser Dark Green. Paint a tiny dot of Terra Cotta at the center of the morning glory with a #2 round, wipe brush and pick up Cadmium Yellow blending back into the Terra Cotta. Double load the #2 round with True Blue and White, paint detail lines around the petals (those are the mini lines that fan out from the center to the edge). Double load the #2 round with Light Soft Sage and Hauser Dark Green, paint stems and tendrils. Dry brush spots of Light Soft Sage on leaves with a #6 flat. Dry brush and blend White over lower petals of morning glories. Double load a #2 round with Light Soft Sage and Hauser Dark Green to paint sepals beneath flowers.
Purple Flower Vine
White nylon bristle or coarse brushes for fabric painting: #6 flat; #’s 2, 8 round
DecoArt SoSoft Fabric Paints: Dioxazine Purple, White, Light Soft Sage, Hauser Dark Green, Cadmium Yellow, Terra Cotta
Tip: Paint each flower and leaf one at a time to achieve best blends.
Paint flower center White with a #8 round; pull strokes outward. Wipe brush with paper towel and pull Dioxazine Purple from the outside of the petal inward to blend with White. Double load a #2 round with Light Soft Sage and Hauser Dark Green, paint stems. Double load a #2 round with Terra Cotta and Cadmium Yellow, pull centers and then dot over the lines. Double load a #2 round with Light Soft Sage and Hauser Dark Green, paint sepal petals under smaller flowers. Dry brush petals White with a #6 flat.

DecoArt SoSoft Fabric Paints: Fuchsia, Baby Pink, Cadmium Yellow, Terra Cotta, Burnt Sienna, White, Hauser Dark Green, Light Sage Green, Antique Gold
Tip: Paint flowers and leaves one at a time to achieve best coverage.
Paint each petal from the center out beginning with Baby Pink using a #2 round. Paint Fuchsia from the outer petal inward, blending into Baby Pink. Paint bud with a double load of Fuchsia and Baby Pink using a #2 round. Stipple bud beginning with Burnt Sienna, wipe brush and double load Antique Gold and Terra Cotta and continue stippling. Use Cadmium Yellow to stipple highlights sparingly. Double load a #2 round with Hauser Dark Green and Light Soft Sage, paint stems and sepal under bud. Begin panting each leaf with Soft Sage Green, wipe brush and pick up Hauser Dark Green and blend colors; use the #6 flat for larger leaves and the #2 for smaller leaves.
