In the 80’s Janet started painting landscapes in oils on canvas. Eventually she changed over to acrylics, painting on wood that she cut herself. She was very successful selling to her work to friends.
After she married her husband, her life became a life that was very busy and she gave up painting for about 12 years. Now with her children older and life a bit slower, she has returned to her love of painting with oils.
Janet now sells her work to local people. Her secret is to keep a photo album and business cards with her to show people that may be interested; as a result, she is fairly busy with commissions.
Janet has attended a few local art classes but is basically a self-taught artist finding that she does better when learning on her own.
She loves old things and is constantly inspired by things in nature that catchers her eye. She loves to paint old cars, flowers, picket fences, old buildings, and swamp scenes. By painting these, she feels she is preserving their history.
