The "art" of giving!

Have you ever met someone who is just delightful to be with, they make you feel good when you are with them and even after you have left them the feeling lingers. Or maybe someone who listens to you with an open heart and you know they are really hearing you and understanding you. Maybe you know someone who often lends a helping hand when your in need.

These are gifts that these people are giving us, we all have some gifts we can offer others. They can be anything from a smile, a friendly touch, or a little bit of humor to lighten the mood. Maybe these people are good at communication, or creating beauty with music or art. There are so many gifts that a person can have and never even know it.

Even if you don’t know what your gifts are they are there deep inside of you.

How do we know what these are? It is simple, make a list of all of your talents personality traits or skills. Maybe you have a skill of creating wonderful dinners for your family and friends, or maybe you are good at organizing events for your church. These are all gifts!

Sometimes we see someone who seems to have it all, they are loved by many and respected. They have learned how to share their gifts with others and this is their secret, it is what makes them feel whole.

When we discover our gifts and share them it is a true expression of love. These gifts have been given to us, and we need to share them!

Often when we are envious of someone it is because of this fact, they are sharing their gifts and we are not! To get over this we need to ask ourselves what are my gifts, which ones can I easily share with others, why do I hold back on some gifts that I have been blessed with?

Make a promise to yourself that each day you will appreciate the gifts and talents you have to offer others and make an effort to do just that.

Maybe it is just a gentle touch, a hug a smile or a phone call. Pay close attention as to how it makes you feel when you do share. It is a wonderful feeling isn’t it?

Life is not what you get but what you give!

Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
II Corinthians 9:7

Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.
Hebrews 13:16 ESV
