Heard the Word! Alla Prima

Alla prima is also known as direct painting or wet on wet. It is an Italian term which means “at once“. This style of painting is done in one sitting, the artist does not wait for the paint to dry. It was first described in the 17th. Century and by the 19th Century it was widely used. The paint is usually a thick consistency which gives lots of texture and shows the brushstrokes.
